The Weekend

It was Gracie and I against the world this weekend. Jeff worked all weekend and long hours since Thursday, so Gracie was missing him greatly. She would get up, run into the living room and then coming running back with a sad look on her face.

Gracie was good as gold this weekend. She was sweet, social, helpful, happy, and just overall content. On Saturday we went to get her flowergirl dress fitted. It's a good thing we waited to get it altered as there isn't much altering to do with her latest growth spurt. We'll tuck the straps a bit and hem it up and she'll be good to go. Gracie took all of the women at the bridal store for walks, not one was left out. They told me they thought I needed to bring her in at least once a month so they could get their Gracie fix. Then we went to visit Grandma & Grandpa D. for a few minutes. Gracie was thrilled to get to pet Poco, one of their cats. In the afternoon we went to Target and to the Hallmark store. Gracie was so good in both stores. She loved all of the pretty things in the Hallmark store and even told me that some of the chimes were "pretty". Her favorite were the lighted Halloween figurines that moved...a witch flying on a broom was her most favorite. Gracie got to see daddy for about an hour before she had to go to bed and she was delighted. Gracie is in love with the Michael Jackson thriller CD, so they danced to that and I looked at her as she was laying on Jeff's shoulder and she had the biggest smile on her face.

Sunday when Gracie woke up, she was covered in blood again. Yes, another one of her lovely nose bleeds. The sheets and pillow cases cleaned up, but her pillow was a casualty. It was soaked. So we made that our outing today, to go get her a new pillow and a waterproof pillow case cover to go under her pillowcase. Gracie wasn't as chipper today, she seemed to be struggling a bit with constipation, but that thankfully resolved itself mid-afternoon and then we had a much more chipper girl. We went to go for a walk and when we got to the end of our block, Gracie saw her ENT surgeon, who we all love, and is moving away. They were loading up a big truck. Gracie ran right to her with smiles and they played for awhile and Gracie got to go see in the big truck and she told us all repeatedly that it was a "truck". Dr. D. knows how much Gracie loves dogs, so she let her big dogs out to play and they were a huge hit. Gracie was in her glory. When it was time to leave, I asked her if she wanted to give Dr. D a hug. She said "no", then she went up to her and gave her a kiss on each cheek. It was so sweet. We will miss Dr. D. -- she is awesome.

Tonight Gracie insisted we go outside and that is where we spent the whole evening...first a wagon ride and playing at the local school, then a walk, then a stroller ride while daddy mowed the lawn. When daddy was all done, Gracie insisted upon pulling the shut off lawn mower down the street and back again. She was loving this. She got so mad when it was time to go in the house. She did fall asleep very quickly. I think she got her work out.

Auntie Sheila...we're back to Dora pj's tonight, since you aren't a fan of her Spongebob ones. :)

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie
