New Years Eve and Daddy's Birthday

Gracie treated me to sleeping in til 7:30 a.m. We got up and found daddy and wished him a Happy Birthday. Gracie even said "Happy Birthday" today. She repeated me saying it and we only heard it once, but we heard it.

It was sort of a lazy day today. We just hung out at home and got a few things (very few) done around the house. Gracie only took a 30 minute nap today, so by late afternoon she was a little cranky. She had moments of great merriment when things were going her way. If she couldn't have her way, it wasn't pretty.

We read lots of books and took a lot of family walks around the house. Gracie LOVES to hold one of my hands and one of Jeff's and just lead us around the house. Maybe she thinks we all need exercise.

Gracie loved when we lit the candles on Jeff's birthday cake and even tried to help him blow out the candles.

Gracie amazes me with how much she understands and responds to these days. It is very encouraging as we see her continue to make good progress. I love to hear her jabber, many times we hear real words and at other times a lot of sounds like she is making up words. I would love to know what she is thinking.

Gracie was sound asleep by 8:30 p.m. and I think I'm not that far behind her.

Have a safe and Happy New Years!

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Wednesday - Dad watch: Mission accomplished

Hello all. This is the last day of Dad on Patrol, as Lisa is now off the rest of the week too.

Today was a pretty good day. We started out by taking mommy to work (car in the shop - all done now, no charge, thanks very much). When we got home, had our breakfast and meds, and then played for a while.

Grace got tired about 10:00 and we paused for a moment to see if she would take a nap. When I woke up, it was 11:30. I guess we were both a little sleepy :-)

We had two accomplishments today. The first is that Gracie "voiced" her displeasure about a certain item, while requesting what she actually wanted. We were watching a sign language video - she shook her head "no" and then signed "more" - which has come to also mean, "I would like something different, please" in her vocabulary. So I swapped DVDs and again she signed "more" and then made the sign for the title of a song that is on another video that she DID want to watch. That was pretty neat!

Our other accomplishment came this evening when she had a cookie and said, "nummy cookie." We are thrilled to have her piecing words together, so this got a smile and a "hooray" from both mom and dad.

Other than that, a fairly normal day. These 3 days sure have gone fast - much faster than I thought they would. It was alot of fun hanging out with my Gracie and playing together.

She is now sleeping soundly. We will be doing the same soon.

Have a good night everyone.

Happy New Year - and be safe!

Love,
Jeff, Lisa, and Gracie

Tuesday - Dad watch, day #2

Hello again. This is day #2 of Jeff the Dad staying home with Gracie. So far no major injuries or broken bones, so we must be doing okay.

Today was another fun day. The major activity was going to the clinic to see our physical medicine doctor. Grace was happy to see her and was very cooperative, doing everything she was supposed to do (yay!). Our doctor gave us some suggestions for some new programs for Grace to get plugged into while we are decreasing her "formal" therapy appointments. The high point of the day was her telling us that Gracie no longer needs to wear her orthotic braces. HOORAY!!! We are so pleased to hear that. Grace tolerated the braces, but I don't think she really liked them very much. This is also helpful as it gives her feet more mobility, allowing her to do things like stand on her tip-toes, for example.

Grace also learned a new word today. This word she learned from dad - she said . . . are you ready? . . . "DUDE!" I don't remember what we were doing, but I said, "Oh dude!" and I heard a little voice say, "dude." Hmm - a quick check - I said, "dude" again - and a second time, "dude" came out of her mouth. I had to laugh out loud. Of course, she has no idea what it means, but that . . . is a detail.

It was a good night, with Gracie playing with both mom and dad. Followed by some snuggly time and then off to bed - where she now resides.

Good night to all.

Monday with Dad

Hello everyone. Jeff the dad here. Lisa is working this week and I am off, so you will be hearing from me for the remainder of the year.

Yesterday was a big day for Grace, as we headed to see Grandma, Grandpa, and a bunch of uncles, aunts and cousins to celebrate Christmas. All of the excitement yesterday might be the reason for Gracie being so tired today. Aside from being a little sleepy, Grace was a good girl all day. We played, watched some tv, read some books, took a bath and (of course) napped.

Some highlights today include going to the clinic to visit some friends. They were happy to see Grace and give her some attention - which she was eager to soak up. As expected, Grace was very social and loved to have an audience. We stayed for a little while and Grace thoroughly enjoyed herself, making the rounds and flashing her smile all around.

Our big news today is that Grace learned/showed a new sign. She brought a book to me and I asked, "do you want me to read a book" and I signed book her. She then signed book back to me. I was so surprised, I asked her to sign it again - and sure enough, she did. So, "book" is definitely in our vocabulary. Woo Hoo!

As I said near the beginning, Grace was a sleepy girl for much of the day, almost asking to take her morning nap. Despite being tired, she was in a good mood all day. We had a fun time spending the day together. Mommy got home around 6:00, and then Grace was all smiles to see her too.

They are both sleeping soundly. I had to finish the Monday night game. Now I am off to bed.

Talk to you tomorrow!

Saturday - Good Mood Girl

Gracie had an horrendously restless night. She woke up constantly and when she wasn't fully awake she would make little moaning sounds. I had to have my hand on her or be touching her or she would be awake. I awoke exhausted and I anticipated she would be too, but not so. She awoke in a great mood and was ready to play and have some fun.

Gracie spent most of the morning with daddy while I prepared food and worked in the kitchen. They spent some time on the computer listening to music and watching some of Gracie's favorite You Tube videos of Signing Times (her favorite sign language videos). We also took lots of family walks around the house today. This is where Gracie holds each of our hands and just takes us through the house walking around. If we sing while walking it's a bonus. We also played "get me" and other fun games.

Gracie got a Little People Adventure Park for Christmas, we've been trying to get her to push the car down the rollercoaster and she would watch but would have nothing to do with it. Jeff and I were both in her bedroom and she wandered out to the living room, two seconds later we hear her push it down. I guess it was on her time, not ours.

Gracie and mommy spent the afternoon together while daddy was at band practice. We had tons of fun jumping, marching, playing "get you", reading and just hanging out. Gracie was in a great mood. We got a visitor this evening and Gracie played shy. Honorary Auntie Vickie stopped by with a stuffed Cookie Monster for Gracie. It is the cutest and Gracie wants the cookie that Cookie Monster is holding.

Gracie only had a 30 minute nap today, so she was so ready for bed. I don't think she has moved since I put her in bed. After being awake most of last night, I'm thinking I will join her shortly.

Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Christmas Day

Gracie woke up at 7:00 a.m. this morning and was a little snuggle bug. I think that was her way of saying "Merry Christmas, Mommy".

Since our plans to be with my family for Christmas got postponed due to weather, we stayed home and enjoyed each other's company. Gracie, after being at home for three days straight, was going stir crazy. She was more moody and just needed an outing. So after her nap, we bundled her up in boots, snow pants, hat, mittens, and her coat and headed to the great outdoors. We took a walk down the sidewalk, she loved splashing her boots in the slushy snow and watching it go sploooooooooosh! Then we put her in her sled from last year and quickly realized it was too small. We pulled out an old sled that Jeff and I have used in years past and that worked beautifully. She loved being pulled around in the sled and going down the hill in our front yard.

It was just what she needed. She was so much more content and in a good mood for the rest of the day.
It was a good day! Merry Christmas to You!

Thursday - Christmas Eve

Gracie awoke at 7:00 a.m. and was ready to start the day after some snuggling with mommy and daddy. Gracie started out her day by watching daddy out of the window while he blew snow out of our driveway.

Jeff, Gracie, and I celebrated our Christmas today. We decided to allow Gracie to open presents throughout the day, so that she could play with the ones she opened. Gracie doesn't love the actually opening, but loves to see what is inside. The first present she opened was a V-tech Laptop computer. It was a huge hit. She constantly wants to play on our computers, so she was thrilled to have one of her own.

We just hung out all day and enjoyed each other's company. At one point this afternoon after nap, we all opened presents and all of the things sort of overwhelmed Gracie. She got very moody and wanted to go upstairs (our tree and presents are downstairs). We sort of forgot how much changing Gracie's surroundings bothers her.

The one thing we really noticed today was that Gracie talked ALOT. She repeated so much of what we were saying, she said words without being prompted, she pointed to her babies eye and spontaneously said "eye". She has a great love of our fireplace and she has a point where she has to stop and can't go beyond that point when it is on. She tests me and when she gets to that spot, I always say "That's close enough." She heard that alot today as we spent alot of time in the family room today. By the end of the evening, she would go to her stopping spot and say "close enough". Yes, she was putting two words together!

Gracie also had great fun pushing her baby in the stroller around the house. She is even just starting to learn to turn the stroller when she gets to a barrier or when she wants to go a different direction. This is much easier for her on the kitchen linoleum than on the carpet in the rest of the house.

With the big winter storm upon us, our travel plans for tomorrow have been postponed, so the three of us will enjoy Christmas Day together at home. If the weather is mild enough, we may have to take Gracie out in the back yard to play in the snow.

Please be safe if you are travelling. Merry Christmas!

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Wednesday - Mommy's Good Girl

Gracie awoke at 6:00 a.m. this morning. I went in to lay down with her for a while and the next thing I knew she had fallen back asleep, so I took the opportunity for a little snooze too. We awoke again at 7:50 a.m. That felt nice.

Gracie was in the best of moods today. She was happy, content, agreeable, and just had a very good day. She was extremely responsive in responding to conversation, letting her wants known, and just seemed so on top of it today. She continues to amaze me with how she notices everything, today she had to check out the bottom of the latch on the gate over the stairs. I fear she is trying to figure out how to work it and then we'll be in trouble.

Gracie continued to let me know that she is a big girl. Today she wanted an apple, but not cut, she wanted it whole. She finally, after some fussing, allowed me to cut off the peel. Then I gave the full apple back to her and she did really good in eating it.

We stayed home all day, but did have visitors for a short while this afternoon. Our friends Mitch and Cullen stopped by, but Gracie played shy. She is such a social kid, it always surprises me when she starts playing shy. Go figure.

Gracie's new word of the day is "Santa" followed closely by "Ho! Ho! Ho!"

It is snowing quite a bit here tonight, so there is no question we'll have a white Christmas. Santa has come to our house, so when Gracie gets up tomorrow, she will have packages under the tree. If the temps stay mild, we may have to take Gracie out for a sled ride.

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Christmas Eve.

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Tuesday - Daddy or Jeff?

Gracie awoke bright and early at 6:00 a.m. She was in a much better mood today, although very clingy this morning. We did alot of snuggling and rocking. After her bath she was much better and we played with toys and just had a good morning.

At lunch time I made both Gracie and I a chicken patty. I cut hers up and put it on her plate and all was fine until I arrived at the table with my whole patty in a bun. Now mind you, Gracie was also given a bun, but that wasn't good enough, she needed the full sandwich. After she made it very clear that she was not going to eat what was on her plate because she wanted my sandwich, I cut it in half and gave it to her. To my surprise, she did quite well with it. I had to watch her like a hawk because she puts way too much in her mouth at a time. She is getting to be such a big girl...and independent.

After lunch, Gracie took an hour nap and then was good to go. We headed to the clinic for her occupational therapy session. We got there a little early so stopped in to say "hi" to Auntie Sheila. Then to peds where she was oohed and aahed over...she had on her Vikings Favre jersey and piggytails. She did good at OT. She just keeps getting stronger and stronger and is really doing well. Her biggest challenge is that she gets distracted very easily. Her therapist commented that she wasn't surprised by this as she has this charisma that people just naturally gravitate to her and she works the room. She is definitely a social child. As we were leaving, Dr. N, Gracie's beloved neurologist appeared. Gracie immediately ran to her and took her hand. Dr. N. was so sweet and walked us out to the elevators. We are so lucky to have her as Gracie's doctor.

Jeff took Gracie home while I worked a little -- had to close timecards so there will be paychecks next week. Gracie was very inconsolable that mommy didn't go home with her. Jeff said that once they got home she was still inconsolable for about 30 minutes, the whole time crying for mommy. Uh-oh. She was a very happy girl once I arrived home and was in a good mood all evening.

Tonight I was giving Gracie a piggyback ride and she looked at Jeff and referred to him as "Jeff" not daddy. At first I thought it a fluke as her pronouciation of words isn't always perfectly defined. Sure enough she called him "Jeff" again. It cracked us both up. I thought I called Jeff "daddy" more than "Jeff" around the house, but I guess little ears are picking up on Jeff. She said "Jeff" about 10 times.

She fell asleep quickly tonight and is sleeping peacefully. I'm looking forward to another fun day with her tomorrow.

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Monday - Hanging with Mom

Gracie had a good night until about 4 a.m. when she became extremely restless. At 6:30 a.m. she called the tossing and turning quits and got out of bed. She had no smiles, try as I might. She was irritable, demanding, and nothing was quite right. I gave her a bath, certain to change her mood, and it helped, but wasn't a magical fix. Finally at 9:30 a.m. I put her back to bed, where she slept for an hour. She awoke a much happier girl.

After a snack, we headed to the clinic to drop off a few packages and then listen to the Christmas concert in one of the atriums. Daddy was running audio, so we got to see him too. The musicians were a husband and wife duo and they were considered folk music. It was a very nice concert and Gracie enjoyed it, although whenever the song would be done and everyone would clap Gracie would fuss loudly as she thought that meant it was done.

After that we headed home and had a little something to eat, although Gracie was not a big eater today at all. She did offer her baby doll a piece of cereal today. How nice of her to share. Then I put her down for another nap. She seemed extra tired all day today. Could she be growing again? Hmmm.

Gracie slept for 90 minutes and then we played and read books until daddy came home. Gracie had a lot of moments of frustration today. I think that her speech skills are not matching her skills of awareness and she can't communicate what she wants. I've gotten to the point that if I can't figure out what she wants I set her right up on the cupboard or wherever she is pointing to show me what she wants. Once we know what it is, then we work on saying the name of it.

Gracie had her first kiwi today and LOVED it! Gracie had a great time tonight playing on her exercise ball. She would lay on it with her tummy and roll around. This is a huge stride as just months ago she would not have had the balance or felt secure enough to do this on her own.

I'm off all week with Gracie, so I'm looking forward to more fun tomorrow.

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Sunday - A Very Special Day

Today was a very special day at our house. Two years ago today we officially adopted our sweet Gracie girl. I was telling her about it today and I said "That means that the judge said you get to be part of our family forever!" She looked up at me and gave me the biggest smile. I guess she must think this is an okay family to be a part of.

Today Gracie told her first joke. I was in the bathroom and we have a gate across the doorway. She was standing on the outside of the gate, but she can still reach the light switch. She shut off the light on me. I said "Who shut off the light on mommy?" She looked up at me with a smile and without missing a beat said "Daddy!" When I called her on it, she just made this cute little laugh. It was priceless.

We just hung out at home today. We sang, we danced, we marched, we played the piano, drums, tambourine, and the recorder, we read a few books, we snuggled, and Gracie spent alot of time up on mommy and daddy's backs getting "horsie rides". That is one of her most favorite things these days.
Gracie had a few frustrated moments, one of which resulted in applesauce all over the kitchen wall and floor. I'm still not sure what she was trying to get across and I decided to just let her do what she wanted with the applesauce. I figured maybe she just needed to let off a little steam. It was a huge mess. The good news is that my wall and floor got a scrubbing.

Gracie is now asleep and I hope she has a more peaceful night than last night.

Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Saturday - A Good Day

Sorry I missed posting any news yesterday, when I put Gracie to bed, I also fell asleep and was pretty much down for the night.

Gracie had a very restless night, but treated me to sleeping in til 7:00 a.m. this morning. Daddy left early for a haircut and band practice, so Gracie and I hung out together til early afternoon. We did laundry, danced, sang, took a bath, and just had a great morning. Gracie seems to be understanding so much these days and follows short directions. She is responding with yes and no to questions, she is really learning to express herself and repeats so many words that we say throughout the day.

She is also becoming quite independent. Today she wanted a pear, but she did not want it cut, she wanted to eat it whole, so I let her. She did quite a good job with it and she thought she was a very big girl. She is also starting to climb and then stands up on chairs. My days of watching her with half an eye are over....now I'll need to watch her with both eyes dilligently.

Gracie was in such a good mood today. When things didn't go her way we still saw some tantrums, but they were shorter than usual.

Gracie got to wear her shirt with a big monkey on skates on the front. This is a favorite of hers. That always makes the day a better one.

She is very restless tonight and has awoken twice from sleep. I think I may need to go and snuggle with her.

Thursday - It's A Party!

Gracie woke up this morning while I was in the bathroom getting ready for work and Jeff was in our bedroom ironing his clothes. I heard this little whimper outside the bathroom door and sure enough there was Gracie with a tired little look on her face. I picked her up, she snuggled in and we went back to bed for a few minutes to give her some snuggle time to really wake up.

I dressed Gracie up in hot pink leggings and shirt and put on her denim jumper dress. She was pretty and she knew it! Once again when we arrived at daycare she did the limp boneless girl on me.

Jeff and I both arrived at daycare at 5:00 p.m. and were ready for a party...the daycare Christmas party. We all had a lot of fun. There was delicious punch and a yummy supper. I'm not sure Gracie knew what to think of all the activity at first, but she soon warmed up. It was fun to talk to the other parents and just enjoy the sights and sounds of Christmas. Thanks Barb, Norm, Michelle, Krystal, and Heidi for a great party.

When we arrived home Gracie was in a great mood, so we played for about an hour and then our little cherub fell fast asleep.

Wednesday - Tired Girl

Gracie had a restless night and awoke bright and early at 5:45 a.m. She was a happy girl, but was thrown off of her routine as Jeff was still here this morning when we were getting ready. Most mornings he is gone to work already so we have a routine. When he is here, she just wants horsey back rides all morning instead of getting dressed.

When I dropped Gracie off at daycare, she went into her boneless girl fuss at the front gate, but she got over it fairly quickly.

Tonight was a rough one for Gracie, she was so tired that nothing was quite right. So we cuddled a little more than usual and a bath helped her mood a little too. She was in bed before 8:00 p.m.

Tuesday - A Great Day at PT

Gracie awoke around 5:45 a.m. this morning and was a little disoriented as she got out of bed and almost walked into her closet door. Daddy saved her from a bump and mommy scooped her up and took her back to bed to snuggle and wake up a little more.

When I dropped Gracie off at daycare she did the whole boneless girl thing where she just collapses to the floor and fusses. This has been the theme this week so far. As soon as I leave she is fine. She just knows how to play mom!

Jeff picked Gracie up at daycare and headed to the clinic for her physical therapy appointment. I met up with them and Gracie had a great and productive session. I had Leslie, her PT, check her foot braces again as I don't think they are fitting right. They aren't horrible, but they don't fit as well as they should. We are going to go a month without them and let her run stocking foot around the house, then we will reassess how her feet are doing. Her right foot is doing very well, her left still needs a little work but we may get that if we can get her up on her tippie toes a little more often to build up the muscles. Gracie was in a great mood and charmed everyone. The desk staff let her pick out a stuffed animal, Gracie picked Frosty the Snowman.

Gracie came home with daddy while I finished up our Christmas shopping. She was very happy to see me when I got home. Gracie got her first Christmas present this year from Auntie Norma, Uncle Wayne, and Cousin Matt. It is a Little People Nativity Set and she was thrilled with it. We read the Christmas Story quite often and so she knows who Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the Angel Gabriel are...and of course the donkey.

Gracie was a tired girl tonight. With all the PT and extra walking she did today at the clinic, I wasn't surprised.

Stay warm.

Monday - Busy Day

For having gone to bed late, Gracie forgot to sleep a little later. She was up bright and early at 5:30 a.m. This morning her occupational therapist, physical therapist, and early intervention teacher from the Birth-to-Three program all came for their last visit of the year. Gracie worked on her ability to step up on higher objects (such as a curb) without using hands and is doing really well. She has the motor ability, but is lacking the confidence, so we will continue to work on that. They also brought three tubs along, one with beans, one with rice, and the other we filled with water. There were little toys in each and she was supposed to dig through each item to get them. She would have nothing to do with the beans. She did go digging in the rice but was cautious. The water was her favorite by far and she was splashing in it and having fun. Gracie was sad to see her friends leave.

Then it was time for daycare. At this point, I could tell Gracie was low on sleep. She had a meltdown when I put her coat on, a meltdown when I put her in her car seat, and a meltdown when we got to daycare. She was a much happier girl when daddy picked her up. They had a good time together and she was happy to see me when I got home. She had a very good evening and was a pretty happy girl all night.

Our big accomplishment of the day was that she did her business in her diaper, then went over to Jeff and signed "potty". Now it was more than potty, but this was a good first step.

She is now asleep and snuggled under her Winnie the Pooh fleece blanket.

Sunday - Daddy's Home!

Gracie had a very good night last night and slept til 6 a.m. We stayed in bed and snuggled til 7 a.m. Gracie and I had a great day hanging out. She was a good girl while I "went to church on TV". She likes the music and dances to that.

We did lots of laundry today and Gracie is a big help. She throws the cup of laundry detergent in the washer for me. She loves to watch the water come in the washer and is the dryer door monitor for me as I put the clothes in it or take them out.

We also read books, worked on targeted purposeful release (which she can do quite well), played basketball, watched a video, listened to music, and just bummed around the house. It was nice to have a day where we didn't have to be anywhere.

Gracie bumped her chin today on the gate over our stairs and although it thankfully didn't split open again, she cried and cried and cried. Since Gracie rarely cries when she gets hurt or it's fairly short-lived, I knew this bump did not feel good.

At 6:15 p.m. we got in the van and went to pick daddy up at the airport. Gracie was very happy to see him. The rest of the night it was playtime or "family walk" time. Family walk is one of Gracie's favorite things. She has to hold both Jeff and my hand and we just walk around the house with her. She loves this.

It was a good day. Oh and she learned to say "Gracie", or at least repeat it after I say it.

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Saturday - Fun with Family

Gracie awoke bright and early at 6:00 a.m. YAWN! We snuggled for a little longer than usual -- after all it is Saturday, and then got out of bed about 7:00 a.m. After breakfast we took a quick bath then headed to the clinic for Gracie's second H1N1 vaccination. Gracie's first dose had been the FluMist, but we were told earlier that this would have to be an injection as the clinic would not be receiving any more mist. I'm happy to say they did have the mist and we were able to go that route. The preservative in the injection made me a little nervous for Gracie's well-being. I wouldn't hesitate to go with the injection for a child without any health issues, but it does make me nervous with Gracie's special issues.

We met up with aunt Sheila and cousin Jason at the clinic and took Jason home with us. Gracie was thrilled to have a playmate for the day and Jason is always so good to her. She was a bit demanding and willful at times today, especially when she would take Jason's hand and want him to walk with her, over and over and over again.

Gracie is continually demonstrating her independence. Today I gave Jason a muffin and also gave Gracie one that was cut up. She refused the plate and fussed. She wanted a whole one just like Jason. She will no longer drink out of a sippy cup at the supper table. It has to be the same type of glass that we are drinking out of. She does quite well with this.

It was a nice day and I bundled Gracie up and Jason and I took her for a nice long walk. I think she really enjoyed the fresh air on her cheeks. Later in the afternoon aunt Sheila and cousin Kayla came over and they brought us some snacks and then had supper with us. Gracie was very upset when they had to leave. She was also a tired girl as she didn't take a very long nap. She was asleep by 7:15 p.m. tonight. I hope that doesn't mean she'll be getting up too early in the morning.

Friday

Gracie awoke way too early this morning at 5:30 a.m. I had thankfully just gotten out of the shower. She was pretty sober at first, but smiles did find their way to her face. Gracie was a bit of a pill when I dropped her off at daycare. She had a little naughty streak, not sure what got into her. When I picked her up she was watching Frosty the Snowman on TV and was in a better mood.

Gracie was a good girl tonight. After we got home she asked for a banana, so I handed it to her and went to get a knife to cut it. When she saw me coming, she said very adamantly, "No Mama". She didn't want me cutting her banana. She proceeded to open the peel, mush the banana and pull it out in pieces and she ate the whole thing that way. She was so proud of herself.

Tonight Gracie signed "daddy". I told her that daddy was bye bye and she signed "Daddy bye bye". It was very sweet. I know she misses him, but is doing very well just hanging with me.

Tomorrow we head to the clinic for her second H1N1 vaccination. Hopefully all will go well.

Have a great weekend.

Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie

Thursday - Getting Back in the Routine

Things seem to be returning to normal around here, with the exception of Jeff still being in Chicago. Gracie and I both had a great night's sleep and awoke refreshed. All that sleep left Gracie hungry. She usually will only eat a little applesauce or pear sauce in the morning. Just enough to get her meds into her. This morning she was hungry. She ate all of her pear sauce, a chocolate chip waffle and then started in on mine. Then she signed she wanted a banana and ate a half of one. Could she be growing again? I think the answer is yes. My two year old remains in 4T pants, but is moving out of 4T tops to size 5 and 6. I think I wore size 6 when I went to kindergarten.

Gracie had a good day at daycare with the exception of finding that Frosty the Snowman who sits in daycare's front yard met his demise yesterday and no longer exists. I'm pretty sure he didn't melt with these cold temperatures.

When we got home we found three little snowmen in our front yard...it was a snow family replica of our family...a big one, a middle size one, and a little baby Gracie one. Thank you neighbor Diane for making our night. Gracie and I took a walk in the snow. She was quite intrigued, she even walked through it while I steadied her. She didn't have boots on, so I think it started to get cold. Then when we came in the house Gracie saw the snow on my pants and started to cry. I assured her it was okay and all was well.

Gracie got to talk to daddy on the phone tonight. She smiled the whole time and whispered "hi" about 10 times.

It didn't take long for our little munchkin to fall asleep tonight. Sweet dreams.

Love,
Lisa, Jeff, and Gracie
